Corinth, a prosperous Greco-Roman city between the Aegean and Adriatic seas, was famed for trade, wealth, and immorality. Known for its Isthmian games and temples, including Aphrodite’s cult, it symbolized both opportunity and temptation. Paul planted a church there (Acts 18), addressing divisions, idolatry, and immorality in 1–2 Corinthians.
